In the sunny state of Florida lies the city of Orlando, famous for being home to a place almost every child in the world will call paradise, 'Disneyworld', the place where magic comes to life and you can shake hands with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But this is not all there is to see in Orlando; museums, aquariums, shopping malls, casinos, cinema houses, theatres and a host of other features are what give tourists plenty to do during their stay and what make Orlando such a fine destination. Choose an Orlando hotel as your place to stay and you won't have to worry about anything else but having a wonderful time in this great city.

You've probably heard the myths about alligators surprising Florida residents by showing up inside their swimming pools. Well, as much as this may not be a common occurrence, there is definitely reason to understand why this story came into circulation in the first place. Orlando exists in the state of Florida. Most of its terrain comprises wetlands with many lakes and swamps making up what is known as the 'Florida Everglades'. The city, however marshy its top layer, sits on a firm base of bedrock and limestone.

Florida is located at the southern boundary of the humid subtropical climate zone. During the summer season, the city's temperatures soar to high heights while rain clouds reach their full capacities very often and burst their banks in an outpouring of summer rain. The winter season is vastly cooler and much drier than the summer season. Florida's weather is largely affected by Gulf of Mexico airflow that combines with winds from the Atlantic Ocean to form heavy thunderstorms over Orlando during the summer season. Though summers can be extreme, winters are never so with average temperatures never reaching below the zero degrees Celsius mark.

A number of annual events and festivals take place in Orlando that focus on sports, music, art and the commemoration of historic figures such as the author, Zora Neale Hurston. A festival of the Arts and Humanities dedicated to this amazing woman and author draws a large crowd to partake in a celebration that involves music, poetry, modern dance and visual arts. 'Mount Dora Arts Festival' is great for the art-lovers while 'Kissimmee Blue Grass Festival' provides a feast of blue grass and gospel music. You would not want to miss out on independent movie releases at the 'Florida Film Festival'.

Orlando is certainly not a city that lacks in restaurants. With the hundreds of great fine-dining eateries in the area, you are guaranteed to enjoy your time eating out whether it's during the day for lunch or in the evening for a full-course meal that will leave you gratified. But a night out on the town could never be complete without some dancing, so make sure you carry your most comfortable shoes because Orlando's night scene will have your partying to the rising of the first morning light. A vacation in this fine city is not to be missed.
