The Amway Center
Venue
The Amway Center is more than just a sports arena it is a booming entertainment center with many different amenities, bars, performance spaces and much more. The Area seats more than 20,000 people and includes upholstered seating and 26 Sky boxes for those who need to live it up. This huge Glass paneled building has a front plaza, a huge steal Towner spire, practice courts, press rooms and much more. It is also located in the heart of Downtown Orlando near many of the city’s cultural attractions and hotels.
The Venue itself opened in 1989 but has been renamed and revamped several times. It is currently partnered with Amway and owned by Orlando Venues which owns several other performance spaces and big venues as well.
Events
Home to both the Football team, Orlando Predators who play in, spring and summer, the basket ball team the Orlando Magic who play in the Late winter and early spring and the Hockey Team the Solar Bears who play in the fall. Amway stadium is often buzzing with game day events. There are also hundreds of music events throughout the year as well including performances by some of music’s most well known names like Andrea Bocelli, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Bruce Springsteen Elton John and many others. Hotels Nearby
Those who want a quick walk back to their hotel after a sports show down or big concert have many different options to choose from. City Place Extended Stay Condo and Hotels is only a 15 minute walk from Amway Center and includes several different condo style amenities complete with multiple bedrooms, sitting areas and kitchenettes. There are also having a big pool and some popular views of the city. Directly across the street from all of the action is the Sheraton Orlando Downtown. This Hotel features a variety of Rooms and suites and has a massive glass atrium in front. The Grand Bohemian is also close by and features a continental Breakfast, huge spa and a concierge service. This venue is also famous for its art collection.
Places to eat
Those looking for a bite to eat before seeing a show or cheering on a sports team are sure to find someplace that is both close to the Amway center appeals to their tastes. Some of the restaurants nearby include the famous hamburger chain Hamburger Mary’s or take a stop by Ceviche Tapas Bar which serves a variety of Sea food, more than 100 different hot and cold tapas and as the name suggest Ceviche. Inside there are more than 100 different figure foods known as tapas. For some well known luxury dining try Boehme restaurant attached to the Grand Bohemian Hotel. For some southern food check out Mojo Cajun Bar, here guest can chow down on Po’ boy sandwiches, Barbeque ribs, crab cakes and much more. This restaurant is only 3 blocks east of Amy way restaurant.
There are also bars and restaurants inside Amway Center as well. These include the steakhouse that is exclusive for ticket holders called Jernigan’s Restaurant. There are also a multitude of clubs and bars inside as well including the North Club Bar, Budweiser Baseline bar and the Coors light Mountain Bar just to name a few.
