Restaurants in Orlando
Orlando is one of the biggest destinations in the world and like all great places, is filled with lots of great dining choices. Orlando does it just a little differently, of course, with plenty of kid-friendly and family-oriented restaurants that invite you not only to eat, but to dine while having loads of fun, enjoying international creations, or wowing enthusiasts of all kinds.
Theme Restaurants in Orlando
Universal Studios is home to several theme restaurants in Orlando. NASCAR Sports Grille and NBA City serve scrumptious American favorites in an atmosphere that sports fans will love. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville offers a breezy, tropical atmosphere and tropical-themed food - not to mention nearly twenty different margarita and frozen margarita drinks. If you're a fan of both fresh seafood and Forrest Gump, a stop at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is an absolute must if you're anywhere near the theme park. Enjoy boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp gumbo, etc. And if you're travelling with a music afficianado, good luck keeping him or her away from the guitar-shaped Hard Rock Cafe that is themed with all things music and pop culture.
Walt Disney World is surrounded by themed restaurants as well. If you've brought along a dinosaur enthusiast to Orlando with you, the T-Rex Cafe serves both adult- and kid-friendly menu items in a prehistoric atmosphere. A nearby Rainforest Cafe location offers a similar ambiance with plant and exotic animal themed surroundings.
A Planet Hollywood location near Pleasure Island offers celebrity-envisioned dishes while surrounded by memorabilia from tinsel town. Hemingway's, located at the Cypress Grand Hyatt, is a tip of the hat to Ernest himself that features some of the famous writer's favorite dishes, and his own drink concoction, "Papa Doble".
Restaurants in Disney's Celebration
If you've ever wondered what a suburb designed and built by Disney would be like, then a trip to Celebration is in order. The downtown area is filled with cutesy and quaint architecture like whitewashed gables and brick walkways, all centered around a lake of course. The area is well-known for its wonderful restaurants.
If you're in the mood to try something exotic, Columbia Restaurant offers both Spanish and Cuban variety. A tapas bar gives you just a taste of everything you want, or take in a full gourmet meal on the terrace on the lake, in the courtyard, or inside the charming old-world dining spaces.
If Italian suits your mood, Cafe D'Antonio prepares many of its Mediterranean favorites in its wood-burning oven. The restaurant offers a child-friendly menu, a full bar, and al fresco seating. Grab a burger or fresh lobster at the Celebration Town Tavern, or from-scratch homemade style food at the Market Street Cafe. Ice cream, fudge, and handcrafted candies and confectioneries at Kilwin's tempt all who walk by.
Fun Restaurants in Orlando
Everything served at Cafe Tu Tu Tango is appetizer-sized, so you're meant to peck from everyone's plates at the table - but that isn't the funnest part about this restaurant located in the heart of International Drive. Every surface that can hold art at Tu Tu Tango is covered in art for sale, while random performance artists roam around to entertain diners.
Imagine the anarchy atmosphere of an old west saloon, but with pancakes and children and you've got the Whispering Canyon Cafe inside Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Like everything Disney, the servers don't just bring food - they also entertain. Grown-ups be warned, anything goes at this place. The family-friendly food is served family style with endless refills.
Taverna Opa at Pointe Orlando near the Improv Comedy Club serves Greek food, Greek style. This means servers, diners, bartenders regularly stand on the tables to put on a dance show, napkins are thrown at your table in fun, and belly dancers wiggle and jingle while you eat. And yes, plates will be smashed in celebration.
If you've ever looked at your dinner and thought that it needed more pirates, there's a place in Orlando that is perfect for you. Pirates Dinner Adventure next to Magical Midway combines a dramatic pirate stage show with supper - complete with a 46-foot long ship on a lagoon-shaped, indoor lake.
