Orlando Transportation

Orlando, like most American cities, is crowded with traffic. If you drive to the city, or to Disney, be prepared to sit in traffic with local Orlando commuters as well as tourists. There are great options for public transportation, the biggest being the Lynx bus system. Once in Disney,  you will find it easy to get around using buses and monorail.

Airports

Many people start their vacation to Orlando by flying into Orlando International Airport. Your Orlando Transportation starts here with the AGT Train inside the airport. This train will take you from your arrival gate to the main terminal and baggage claim. It provides great views of the Florida landscape. Getting from Orlando International Airport to the city of Orlando or to Disney is easy. Many hotels offer free shuttle buses. One of the most cost effective ways to get to Orlando is the local Lynx bus which is less than $5. The airport also has plenty of taxi cabs, which will be more expensive at about $35 to Orlando or $60 to Disney.

Driving to Orlando

Getting to Orlando means driving for many families. Depending upon where you live this can be a more cost effective way to get there than flying. Once you reach Southern Florida it is important to note that there may be tolls, and there will be traffic. With so many attractions nearby such as Daytona, Disney, Kissimme, and other there will be a lot of people on the road. Driving to Orlando may be a great option, just be prepared and patient.

Bus to Orlando

If you are already in the state of Florida, whether you are visiting a different city, such as Miami, or you live nearby, there are a lot of option for local private buses to get you to Orlando. Check out The Florida Express Bus or Florida Sunshine Shuttle. If you are coming from out of state than Greyhound is the most common bus system used to get to Orlando. Greyhound buses can take a long time, they have to sit in the same traffic as everyone else. In addition, they can cost nearly the same price as flying.

Train to Orlando

Taking the train to Orlando will cost about $200. This price may be worth it to some people who want to relax on their way down the coast. The train is longer than flying, but faster than the bus. In addition it is a place to relax and possibly sleep while traveling. Amtrak is the main train to Orlando.

LYNX

Getting around Olrando is made much easier by the Lynx Bus System. This public bus system serves the greater central Florida area so wherever you are near Olrando, Lynx will be nearby. Lynx works hard to make getting around faster and easier. They have commuter buses known as FAST LINK. They also have a free ride around downtown Orlando called LYMMO. LYMMO is a great way to get around the city and explore. It runs from 6am on the weekdays, 10am on weekends until at least 10pm or later.

Disney Transit

Disney is an entire city unto itself, and has the transportation to back it up. Within Disney there are buses, monorails, and boats. You can even get free transportation to the park if you are staying at certain hotels located within Disney. The public transportation inside the park runs frequently with stops throughout all of the different attractions. Driving to Disney is also a popular way to get to the park, just note that you will have to pay for parking, and it may be a long lot from the lot to the park.

Driving

Orlando is known for having heavy traffic. It is both a bustling city and a tourist destination. Orlando is notorious for having bad traffic and a lot of accidents. This may be due in part to the amount of tourists who are not familiar with the area. Spend time looking at maps and traffic patterns before your trip to avoid feeling lost and confused. This will make your drive safer, if not more pleasant.
